JMMDS created a woodland garden for a Boston-area contemporary home on a pond. Designed as a permanent residence for a museum curator and their family, the Terrace House provided JMMDS with an opportunity to create a landscape that blurs the line between traditional and modern; natural and built spaces.
Raised planting beds provide structure to the paths, gathering spaces, and gardens.
A bluestone patio looks out to the water through the trunks of the forest trees.

Grade change on this sloped property was managed through the use of retaining walls, steps, and raised garden planters.
Stepping stone paths through garden lead to a deck overlooking the water.
Vibrant green perennials brighten the shade gardens.
Unusual stepping stone arrangements provide a unique character to the garden paths.
